History

The Hospital Guild, an auxiliary organization which has given vital support to Tioga’s Medical Facilities, was organized May 29, 1956 when the hospital was still in the dreaming stage. The Guild averaged 20 members per year for the first 20 years. The top membership was 37 and fell to three members in the fall of 1975, which led to the finality of the Guild. In 1981 there was some interest in reactivating the Guild, as the many hours of volunteer support had most certainly enriched both the hospital and the community.

The Tioga Hospital and Nursing Home Auxiliary was officially reorganized on May 10, 1982 and remains in place to this day. The Auxiliary has been responsible for many products that are used daily throughout the hospital and nursing home. The money used for the purchase of these products is derived entirely from fund raising activities and donations.
