TEEX Fire School The week of January 22-26, 2007 was spent by Tioga Fire Department members Joel Moberg, Brian Lovdahl and Scott Sundhagen at the TEEX Brayton Fire Training Field in College Station, Texas. The members attended the class "1081 Industrial Exterior Fire Brigade Training" where they received training on fighting fires that may arise in and around the Tioga area involving plant operations. TEEX offers courses to industrial fire brigades that provide personnel from around the world with strategies, tactics, and skills needed to safely prevent and control emergencies at plants where flammable substances could endanger lives, facilities and surrounding communities. The Tioga Fire Department would like to thank HESS Corporation for the sponsorship of the local members attending the TEEX Fire Training School. Tioga and surrounding communities can be appreciative of the proactive stand that is taken by HESS in ensuring the continued safety of employees and area residents. The following pictures are just some of the training that the members attended. Watch a video! - Click Here

Upon entering the scene of any fire, the situation must be assessed. Our main concern.....SAFETY!! Contrary to what it looks like, the water is being sprayed on the tank that remains intact to keep it cool while foam gets prepared. "Behind the scenes" Foam needs to be prepared, trucks need to keep full, extra support has to be called in. There's much more to firefighting than just spraying water. Even after putting on hundreds of gallons of water and foam, the wind comes up and changes our approach. The foam has no effect as it runs over the edge. The tank has to be drained in order to let the foam smother the fire. Once the level of the tank gets lowered, the foam is able to stay in the tank and extinguish the fire. It takes alot of people, experience, and leadership to contain any fire. We have among the best!
